“Point on Origin” 2017 debuts at Millburn Library

AAC announces its 12th year of the “Point of Origin” show. This is 12 years of joining mentors’ art and AP scholarship winners pieces in a shared exhibition, with an awards presentation event taking place at Millburn Library later this month.  The show will be on display for the month of May in the library gallery,

Chair of the Art Advisory Committee Laraine Barach gives this overview of the multi-faceted show:

Visit our marvelous award-winning photos of joy, architectural spaces, nature, and New Jersey landscapes. Our artists include photographers Amy McGovern, David Koh, and Laura San Filippo.

Oscar Peterson loves realism and tells us tales of mythology in modern forms.
Mixed media magic is evoked by collages from Maren Less and Erin Barach, and AP student Sindu Shanmugadas. (Maren Less – AP Scholarship winner 2010; Advisor Member: Erin Barach – MFA,From MICA, AAC Intern, Graduate Millburn 2001)

Painted works from Victor Wu of Millburn display minute detail, as do the designs of Erica Einhorn.

Darice Lee takes dressing, soft sculpture with wearable art to new heights, and Kathleen Gao shows animals in modern settings that are both funny and intriguing.

Abby Ow’s “Didi” is pure feminine expression. Abby’s artist eye is a pristine vision on canvas.

Jessica Li shows in a “Stranger Friend”, her turtle painting, the poignant and possible uncertain future of a beautiful endangered species. Her homage to “Tea Time” is perfection.

Jennifer Guo’s skilled contrast in black and white reveals delicate transparency.

Jonathan Karlin reveals detailed mountain views at evening.

Kathi Hect’s fused glass pieces burst forth in color and transport us to unique destinations. Donna Davis’ exquisite ceramics speak a universal language of balance, function, and beauty.
